The INDEX Visiting Scholar in Residence scheme invites applications for monthly residencies in our apartments, located centrally in Lviv. As part of this pilot scheme to be launched in 2025, the INDEX residents will have the unique opportunity to participate in the Institute’s activities and engage with the local and international cultural community through the carefully planned outreach programme, institutional visits, and public-facing events.
INDEX aims to serve as a vital research and cultural hub in Lviv, connecting Ukrainian and international academics, journalists, and artists in its mission to support Ukrainian intellectual vanguard. Our work focuses on documenting Russia’s ongoing war and preserving Ukrainian stories securely and sustainably. In addition to the public engagement programme, the Visiting Scholar in Residence will be invited to take part in internal seminars and discussions helping shape INDEX’s approaches to documentation, preservation, and dissemination of the diverse and multifaceted chronicle of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
What is included in the Visiting Scholar in Residence Scheme?
• Accommodation for a month in a one-room flat in the centre of Lviv; months of the residency: January, February, March, October, November, or December 2025
• Office space in the INDEX premises in the centre of Lviv
• Participation in the rich programme of cultural and academic events organised by INDEX and partner institutions
• Study visits to local cultural and research institutions and meetings with key stakeholders
• Opportunity to work on an independent documentation project
