Selection Committee for Victoria Amelina Fellowship 2026 Announced
Applications for the 2026 Victoria Amelina Fellowship for creative non-fiction writers are open until 4 January, and INDEX is pleased to present this year’s Selection Committee for the programme.
The Committee consists of three sections: international, Ukrainian, and general. The international section will review applications from candidates based abroad; the Ukrainian section will assess domestic applicants, and the general section will contribute to evaluating candidates from both categories.
International section:
— Markus Lux — Vice President of Robert Bosch Stiftung, Special Division Ukraine.
— Francesca Melandri — writer and documentary filmmaker.
— Askold Melnyczuk — writer, professor of English at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
— Charlotte Higgins — chief culture writer, The Guardian.
— Maria Tumarkin — Kharkiv-born, Australian-based writer and cultural historian.
Ukrainian section:
— Oleksandra Matviichuk — human rights activist, head of the Center for Civil Liberties.
— Olena Stiazhkina — author, historian.
— Hryhoriy Baran — director of the Social Capital Programme at The International Renaissance Foundation.
— Olha Rusina — children's and teenage writer, cultural manager.
— Sofia Cheliak — сultural manager and senior partnership manager of the Veteranka Movement.
General section
— Tetyana Teren — journalist, cultural manager.
— Yaryna Grusha — author, translator.
— Sasha Dovzhyk — director of INDEX, writer.
— Alex Amelin.
